Putting Ice Cream Makers to the Test

I recently tested 3 popular ice cream makers on Cityline and got SO many questions about them! With warmer weather finally here we’re all looking for a good snack to cool down. Home-made ice cream and sorbet are SO easy to make and something fun to do in the summer. Ice cream machines can get expensive, which makes choosing the right one hard! I did the work for you and put 3 popular machines to the test. Read on for what I think about each one, links to buy and watch the full Cityline segment.
Breville
The Breville Smart Scoop is super easy to use, and it only took me 35 minutes to freeze and mix the ice cream. I didn’t need to do any pre freezing before because it is a compressor machine, which means there is a freezer in it. There are also a lot of customization options for different textures of ice cream. The machine is realllly heavy, so if you are going to be moving the machine around often or storing the ice cream maker in a small space, this may not be the one for you. This is definitely the choice for hardcore ice cream enthusiasts!
Cuisinart
The Cuisinart ice cream and sorbet is super easy to use and is fast for the amount of ice cream that it makes. It only took 25 minutes to mix and freeze the ice cream! It’s also not too big which makes it easier to store. Since it’s so easy and FAST, this machine is perfect if you’re making ice cream for lots of people or have a larger family. The only downside is that the mixing container must go in the freezer for 24 hours before you are ready to mix the ice cream - so you have to plan ahead!
Ninja Creami
The Ninja Creami lets you easily make sorbet from canned or fresh fruit. You do have to remember to freeze the ingredients the day before you use the machine, though. Once your ingredients are frozen, it only takes two minutes to mix! The design is super slim and easy to leave out without taking up too much counter space, so you can leave it out all summer.
